District 2 candidate forum

Santa Cruz Local hosted a candidate forum on Jan. 10 at the Watsonville Public Library with more than 40 Santa Cruz Local members and guests. We pressed the candidates on the concerns we heard from voters in recent surveys and interviews. Watch the event in the video below.

What we heard from District 2 voters

Santa Cruz Local interviewed residents in District 2 and collected responses through an online survey to better understand their top priorities for supervisor candidates in the March 5 election. The survey was not intended to be scientific, but rather a straw poll of issues important to voters.

District 2 residents’ most common concerns, in order, were:

  • Road conditions.
  • Traffic relief.
  • Affordable housing.
  • Help with rent.
  • Addiction services.
