The new progressive Santa Cruz City Council made its first move on eviction rules and rent stabilization this week, and we get a glimpse of the new majority’s dynamics. The city prepares for a months-long, intense discussion on the future of rent control and tenants rights. We recap the Jan. 8 meeting and talk with Councilmember Sandy Brown.
