SANTA CRUZ >> An affordable housing complex at the former Santa Cruz Metro bus station in downtown opened its application for interested tenants.
The apartment complex at 902 Pacific Ave. has 128 units in a seven-story building and is a mix of studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. The apartments are set to be available to lower income households. Income and affordability limits are set annually by state housing authorities.
An individual that earned $41,550 or less before taxes in 2025 would be considered extremely low income.
Thirty-two homes will be reserved for extremely low-income households and the remaining homes will be for households earning less than 60% of area median income, which is considered low income. Twenty-one homes will be set aside for individuals or families that are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
There are two below-market-rent housing projects at the site — Pacific Station North and Pacific Station South, which opened last year.
The projects are part of the redevelopment of the Santa Cruz Metro bus station. Pacific Station North will include the Metro office and bus ticket windows and up to 22 bus bays. The building will also include ground floor shops and amenities for tenants including an after-school program, a computer lab, fitness classes and a playground.
Applications are open through 5 p.m. March 21. Interested tenants can also visit the leasing office at 324 Front St., Santa Cruz.
