SANTA CRUZ >> The waitlist for units in the Cedar Street apartment complex is now open to applicants. 

The four apartments available to rent, located at 525 Cedar St. in Downtown Santa Cruz, are considered 100% affordable. 

The open units in the multi-family rental community are two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments. There are 64 units total and they range from one, two and three bedrooms.

Anyone who qualifies for affordable housing can apply for residency, but there is a preference given to people who live and work in the City of Santa Cruz. 

For an individual tenant to qualify, income cannot exceed $76,150 at 50% of the area medium income levels, set annually by state housing authorities. The cost of rent for a 2-bedroom unit in the complex would be $2,193 per month at 50% of the area medium income level. Section 8 vouchers are eligible.

Amenities include one pet per household. On-site parking is not available for tenants. On the ground floor, there is commercial and retail space.

The John Stewart Company is managing the property, they did not respond to a request for comment. Applications are available through their website.

Applicants will be selected based on a lottery, which will be held the week of November 1 when applicants will be notified of their position on the waitlist.
