After Planned Parenthood Mar Monte’s Santa Cruz clinic suddenly closed in July and the organization announced the end of prenatal, behavioral and primary health care, thousands of Santa Cruz County residents are scrambling to find care.
County residents on Medi-Cal who were using Planned Parenthood as their primary clinic have until Aug. 31 to choose a new primary care provider, or be assigned one automatically.
Medi-Cal members can contact the Central California Alliance for Health to select or change their clinic. The member services team is available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m at 800-700-3874. Deaf and hard of hearing assistance TTY: 800-735-2929, dial 711.
Andrew Adams, chief of staff of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, said current patients who were receiving those services will not be dropped until they can transition to a new provider. He said he expects that to take about 3 to 6 months.
Planned Parenthood Mar Monte patients can go to its other clinics, including in Watsonville, Salinas and San José, and make phone appointments.
