SANTA CRUZ >> A protest in response to the killing of a Minneapolis woman by a federal immigration agent is planned at 1 p.m. Sunday at Water and Ocean streets in Santa Cruz.

The woman, Renee Nicole Good, was shot twice in the face by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on Wednesday. A flyer for the rally reads “ICE out for Good” and is organized by Indivisible Santa Cruz County, a local chapter of a national left-wing organization that opposes President Donald Trump and his policies.

“We are asking attendees to wear all black — as a sign of mourning — and to hold signs honoring Renee Nicole Good and other victims of ICE violence,” says a webpage for the event.

Good was a 37-year-old mother of three who, according to city officials, was volunteering as a legal observer during the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement surge in Minneapolis.

Several videos from bystanders and the agent who shot Good show different angles of the incident (viewer discretion advised). She was taken to a county hospital and later declared dead, according to news reports.

The killing has sparked outrage across the country and marked the ninth shooting by immigration officials since September, according to the New York Times. A day later, a border patrol agent shot two people during a traffic stop in Portland, Ore.
