SANTA CRUZ >> A virtual community meeting is planned at 6 p.m. Monday to share details about a proposal for 23 townhouses on Frederick Street and to answer residents’ questions. The project includes five, three-story buildings with several townhomes in each building.
Approval likely will be required from the Santa Cruz Planning Commission and Santa Cruz City Council, Santa Cruz City Manager Matt Huffaker wrote in June.
The three-story project was first submitted to the city in May. Each home includes a two-car garage. The site is a 1.8-acre parking lot behind the Santa Cruz Bible Church.
Construction is expected to require the felling of 63 trees, including 11 heritage-sized trees, or trees with a trunk diameter greater than 14 inches. Forty-five of the trees that would be felled were listed as in “poor condition” in the project’s plan set.
