A fire near Davenport burned about 2 acres of grass and trees Sunday, and was not fully extinguished Monday afternoon. (Cal Fire)

SANTA CRUZ >> A fire next to Highway 1 near Davenport has been contained, but as of Monday afternoon has not fully burnt out, according to Cal Fire officials. 

The fire burned about 2 acres of grass and trees near a former Davenport cement plant.

Cal Fire was dispatched at 4:20 p.m., and by 6:20 p.m. the fire was 100% contained, said Cal Fire spokesperson Cecile Juliette. Several fire engines, water tenders and hand-crews were on scene, she said Sunday. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
