SANTA CRUZ >> The Murray Street Bridge is set to fully close through the summer as safety repairs continue.

The start date for the closure is not yet confirmed, but may be as early as June 10. The bridge is expected to remain fully closed through September. Throughout the closure, both lanes will be closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

The latest round of construction will focus on pile driving and other upgrades on the south side of the bridge, according to a May 29 report by the city manager.

“This work must occur during the summer months, within the limited in-water construction period allowed through environmental permits,” the report stated.

List of detours:

• Cars will be rerouted via Seabright Avenue, Soquel Avenue, and 7th Avenue.
• Cyclists will be detoured through Arana Gulch and Broadway using Seabright Avenue and 7th Avenue.
• Pedestrians can go around the north harbor, with access available via Eaton Street, 7th Avenue, and Brommer Street.

According to the city, the project remains on budget and on schedule for completion in January 2028.
