Active Transportation Plan Open House

SANTA CRUZ >> Santa Cruz City staff want residents’ input to help shape plans to make streets more bike- and pedestrian-friendly.
The city’s Active Transportation Plan aims to make walking and biking easier and safer. Thursday, city staff plan to host an open house to learn what people want to change.
Some of the most dangerous streets in the city include Ocean Street, the intersection of highways 1 and 9, and Soquel Avenue, according to state crash data.
In 2022, the city ranked second worst of 104 cities of similar size for bicycle deaths and injuries and seventh worst for pedestrian deaths and injuries, according to analysis from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
