Santa Cruz Local, a nonprofit, nonpartisan news outlet, will host a series of listening sessions to hear your top local concerns and priorities. Your feedback will help guide our election reporting this year.

Our goals:

  • Guide our questions for local candidates: The themes you share will help us understand how to press the candidates for city councils and the board of supervisors this November.
  • Decrease polarization: By facilitating a meaningful conversation with differing views on tough local issues, we hope all participants will gain a better understanding of others’ personal experiences and what shaped others’ views.

About the sessions:

We will host five 90-minute listening sessions in June.

  • Capitola residents: week of June 3
  • San Lorenzo Valley residents: Wednesday, June 12
  • Scotts Valley residents: Wednesday, June 12
  • Santa Cruz County District 2 residents (east Capitola, Freedom, Corralitos, La Selva Beach, Aptos, west Watsonville): Thursday, June 13
  • Watsonville residents: Thursday, June 13

Please fill out this survey if you are interested in participating. We plan to choose participants with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We want to hear from residents in areas that will vote in a city council or board of supervisors race this fall.

We plan to record these sessions and report what we heard.
