Project name: Aptos Village Phase 2.

Location: Adjacent to 141 Aptos Village Way in Aptos.

Status

  • Construction started on Phase 2 in summer 2023. It is anticipated to finish in spring 2025, according to the developer, Swenson.
  • Phase 2 was expected to start in 2019, but “the pandemic and financing constraints resulted in a delay in the construction schedule,” Swenson representatives wrote in a statement.
  • The project has been approved since 2015. Phase 1 was completed in 2019.

Project description for Aptos Village Phase 2

  • Total housing units: 29. 
  • Housing details: The project includes 18 two-bedroom units, eight three-bedroom units and three one-bedroom units. All the units will be for rent except the affordable units sold through the County of Santa Cruz’s Measure J program, Swenson wrote in a statement. 
  • Affordable units: Five. There will be two two-bedroom units, two three-bedroom units and one one-bedroom unit that will be sold below market price.
  • How to buy affordable units in this project: Sereno Group is expected to market and sell the affordable homes. As construction approaches completion, more sales information is expected on the county planning page for Aptos Village Phase 2 and the Aptos Village website.
  • Height: Three stories or 35 feet.
  • Details: Phase 2 calls for three buildings with housing and commercial space. It includes seven commercial spaces. There is about 15,000 square feet of commercial space in Phase 2, including two spaces with infrastructure for a restaurant, according to Swenson.
  • Public space: There is a 24,000-square-foot area within the 11.5-acre project that will be deeded by Aptos Village, LLC to Santa Cruz County Parks when construction is complete, according to Swenson. The space is envisioned as a public park, and county leaders are expected to decide on its specific use.
